How far can you
go in an electric boat?
Well-designed
prop outboard boats powered by an electric
outboard have an extended cruising range of over
50 miles on a single charge. However, most boaters
(gas or electric powered) actually only cruise less than 25 miles a day.
How fast are
electric boats?
Fast enough. Those who are
interested in electric boating enjoy a relaxed lifestyle such as cruising
and conversing with friends, enjoying a meal on the water, fishing or
sipping cocktails in the evening as the sun paints the sky.
Can’t I just use
a trolling motor?
No. Trolling motors are not
designed as a primary source of power for a boat. They are designed as a
secondary means of power. Using a trolling motor as a primary source of
power, you will find that they are not very dependable and that they do not
have sufficient power. So if you expect your boat to have the dependability
and power to get you home when the wind kicks up, you had better have an
outboard electric motor
on the back.
How reliable are
electric outboard motors?
Very reliable if you choose a
quality motor. Outboard electric motors have been
produced since 1975, and currently there are less
than 1% of the motors out of service.
How can I be
sure that I won’t run my batteries down?
Unlike flashlights, games and
cordless drills, today’s electric boats are equipped with some type of
meter. Electric boats can be equipped with the ultimate in 90’s technology.
Our outboard electric motors
come equipped with a voltmeter; this meter shows you in an instant
the state of charge of your batteries. In addition, we can provide an
ammeter (indicates the amps being used) or an E meter (indicates the amount
of run time by the amps being used) to further ensure your peace of mind
while seeking new horizons.
